Activist Zach Wahls to headline Moab Pride Festival
Author and queer rights activist Zach Wahls will be headlining Moab’s second annual Pride Festival on Sept. 28-29. The event will also feature parties, a visibility march and performances by local artists including Bronwen Beecher, Mary Tebbs, Indi Skies and Justin Utley.
Wahls gained notoriety while testifying in front of the Iowa House Judiciary Committee about his experiences growing up with two lesbian mothers. He advocates for various queer rights issues, including pushing for the acceptance of gays and lesbians in the Boy Scouts of America.

Friday, Sept. 28
7.30 p.m. The Orange Party
Frankie D’s, 44 W. 200 North
Wear orange with a hint of pink for this Moabulous meet-n-greet.
Saturday, Sept. 29
10 a.m. Pride March
Congregate at the southeast corner of Swanny Park, the corner of 400 North and 100 West, to walk through town.
12 p.m. Moab Pride Festival
Located at Old City Park and will include contemporary musicians. Musical performances by Bronwen Beecher, Mary Tebbs, Indie Skies and Justin Utley. Keynote address by activist Zach Wahls.
9 p.m. Festival After Party
World famous Woody’s Tavern, 221 S. Main St., with the very talented and highly entertaining disc jockey from San Francisco, Jen Woolfe.
