Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen said that, prior to last Friday, the record for the most marriage licenses issued in a single day was about 80. In just the afternoon on Friday, the office issued 124, breaking that record. Then on Monday, the office issued 353, squashing that record.

Davis County issued 121 licenses on Monday and Weber County issued 95. Summit County had issued 28 licenses by late morning.

There is no word on actual numbers from the other clerk’s offices, as they are difficult to reach by phone with their workload.

This makes the total, verifiable number of marriage licenses issued as 728 as of last night. Offices are open and issuing licenses today as well.

Are we just guessing/assuming that most of these are same-sex licenses. Not that it's a crazy assumption.
